All good things must come to an end, and the road trip was no exception. We reckon we clocked up approximately 1,548kms gallivanting around the North Island in a Toyota Caldina with beer and cheese in the back, plus a soccer ball that never got kicked (not surprising really). There were even 100 Bob Browns rocking around in Hamilton, boy what a night!
AKS and I drove from Wellington to Hamilton (catching up with UK Bob), but we had to stop for 20 minutes on the way just south of Tokoroa to attend to an incident involving rural darkness, wandering stock and a 4WD - lucky it wasn't us as the Caldina (although mighty) wouldn't stand up to smacking into a beast. The poor thing died on the side of the road 10 minutes after we stopped (we weren't able to locate someone with a gun to put it out of it's misery) and then we tried to work out how to get some steak out of it.
Hamilton to Raglan, Raggers to Auckland, Auckers to Rotorua, 'Vegas to Palmerston North, Palmy back to Wellington and then Wellywood back to Dunedin. Not a bad trip really, and the beers on the way were effective. A heads up for you - Monday night in Rotorua is pretty quiet :)
So now, after steak-a-plenty and beer-beer-beer I'm in financial detox - trying to spend as little as possible after a bit of a blow out on the road. Donations (financial, steakular or alesque) most welcome :)
