A Blokes Staple Diet

A Blokes Staple Diet

Blokes. There's nothing quite like it. Beer. And Pizza. And lots of both. Yum.

AKS and I went out yesterday for a round of the Ducky Classic (a home-made golf trophy which I have been trying to lose for a while) and due to a chance roll of the dice I scored my name on it again. It was only after careful statistical analysis that we realised that the game we played happened to be played on the exact 5th anniversary of the first game ever played - even at the same course. The Mackra golf course is probably the best quality course in Wellington that has free roaming goats on it. That combined with the rather cheap $8 green fees made it an absolute pleasure to fire down the fairways with a hired and battered three wood, complete with an accompanying self-shocked look of surprise at hearing that the club made contact with the ball. Ahh, Ducky Classic...

We (B+L+L) also caught up with Rodney today who has a flat in Miramar overlooking Wellington Airport. Crikey, what a view - I'd be glued to the window of the living room for quite a while - every aircraft arriving or leaving Wellington airport doesn't escape note from that window. Linus was making horrendously funny noises on the way back to A&K's place that I almost choked. He is such a pleasure and it getting right into mimicking.

There's an empty crate on the floor. I think it was full about 8 hours ago. Burp.

Wonderful Wifi

I'm sitting outside with my laptop (and AS is with his) looking across to Johnsonville from Porirua and it's a nice mild evening. The sun has gone down and the stars are out. There is the odd cricket chirping and someone in the neighbourhood is having a joint. We're being bombarded by large moths who are being attracted to the glare of our laptop screens. $geek++;

Poor Linus is out of sorts tonight. He had a bit of a scream when he went to bed. This in itself is not unusual but he does normally calm down after about 10 minutes or so. Two hours later, Linda has got him up for a 'reset' and he's inside at the moment turning on the charm with KL.

So far this holiday we have snorkled, played pool, driven past miniature horses, been to a wedding (complete with a helicoptered bridal party), flown my RC plane very high, been out for indian food, had icecreams, sailed Cook Strait (well, on the ferry), seen dolphins jumping at Kaikoura, paid 17c/L above the going rate for petrol (grr), drank a load of beer (and two different types of home brew). There's plenty more to come too, woohoo...
