Wedding Anniversary

On the 11th of Nov it was our wedding anniversary. We take turns about organising the event, keeping the details from the other person until the last possible moment. Thus far we’ve spent our anniversaries in Arrowtown, Ireland, Venice, Stewart Island and most recently (i.e. just the other day), Dunedin.

Linda arranged for us to take the Taieri Gorge Railway from Dunedin to Palmerston and back, a round trip of about 3 hours including a 45 minute stop in Palmerston itself. The views are astounding as you make you way up the coast north of Dunedin, through Waitati, Seacliff and past Karitane.

In the evening we took a harbour cruise on the Monarch, followed by a meal at the Carey’s Bay Hotel. The Monarch normally takes group bookings, and our trip was no exception - we were the odd ones out in a christmas party for a local engineering firm. Several people thought we were new employees and introduced themselves eagerly.

Those of you who know me may know that I like ducks - some people like cats, some like dogs, I like ducks. When I saw at the pub that they had an imported beer called ‘Kwak’, I just had to get some. At 8% alc/vol it certainly got the old wings flapping!

So, now I have to work out what I’m going to organise for next year!
