Transport Tycoon and Linux

I mentioned a while back that I had shifted to using Linux … well, that was a little white lie as I’d run into some hardware related problems and as a result ended up spending time in Windows googling for help and got sucked into that easier-to-do-nothing default.

But, I’m pleased to announce that I’m now running Linux full time! I haven’t booted back to Windows yet, and other than to play some games I can’t see myself wanting to do that.

Anyway, the main reason I’m blogging right now is that I’ve found that there’s an opensource version of Transport Tycoon, and it runs on both Windows and Linux. After installing it (see here for HOWTO with Debian based distro’s) I found that the multiplayer option was on the main menu. Excitedly I grabbed Linda and get her to install the Windows version and we mutliplayered into the night.

I’m really chuffed with Linux and my laptop - it’s Ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy Badger) by the way, and ALL of my hardware was supported out of the box. My multiple hats are off all at once (revealing my luscious locks) to the Ubuntu team!

Looks exciting! The link to your howto is broken though.
