Win32 Rsync via SSH

Recently I’ve been investigating how to set up a Win32 system running an rsync server. The good news is that you can do it and it works - the bad news? Well, if you’re a click and point hax0r you might struggle a bit.

Cygwin is a set of win32 libraries that allow you to run Linux software on Windows machines. It’s even better than it sounds - you can configure services (apache, mysql, ftp, ssh, rsync etc etc) and even run Xwindows and your favourite X applications.

Check it out - if nothing else it’s great to have a /bin/bash shell available on your win32 box :)

Oh, and if you came to this post looking for information on configuring ssh & rsync, you’re better off coming back soon (tomorrow) but in the meantime check out http://www.petersblog.org/node/448
